COVID-19 Testing Procedure

Dear Parents, Faculty & Staff:

Please follow these steps in order to complete the random testing requirements set forth by the New York State Department of Health.


Students in grades 5-12 will be required to have a parental consent form filled out prior to being in a building for on-site learning.  As a reminder, students randomly selected that do not have a signed consent form or refuse will become fully remote until further notice pending a change in Buffalos cluster designation.


The type of test that will be administered is the BinaxNOW COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test. You can view a demonstration of this test here: BinaxNOW COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test Demonstration.


COVID-19 Testing Procedures:

1)     Check-in with clerical staff in the Auditorium.

2)     The COVID-19 BinaxNOW Rapid Test will be administered by the on-site nurse or certified personnel.

3)     Cadets/staff will receive notification of test results shortly after the test is conducted.

4)     Custodial parent or guardian will receive a phone call for a positive COVID-19 test. Arrangements for student pick-up and medical referral and follow-up will be made immediately. Maritime will collaborate with the ECDOH to assist with contact tracing. The ECDOH will contact the student, parent, or staff to perform case investigation and contact tracing. Contact tracing begins 48 hours prior to the start of symptoms or 48 hours prior to the positive test for an asymptomatic person.
