SAT Information
SAT
The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is a standardized test that students typically take for the first time during their Junior year. The tests are designed to measure a student’s college and career readiness and success. Colleges use SAT scores in addition to several other measures to determine college admissions. All Juniors at Maritime will take the PSAT-NMSQT (Pre Scholastic Aptitude Test - National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) in the fall. Results will be shared with students in December to help prepare for the SAT in the spring. Juniors will have the opportunity to register for the SAT during Junior Seminar. Students should refer to their school counselor or visit https://www.collegeboard.org/ for more information.
***SUNY has made a decision to temporarily suspend SAT/ACT testing requirements for rising high school seniors intending to enroll at a SUNY bachelor’s degree-granting campus for the 2021-2022 academic year. This temporary change of admission eligibility requirements applies to the spring 2021, fall 2021, and spring 2022 cycles only.
SUNY will maintain its longstanding commitment to holistic review of student applicants that includes grades, program of study, exam scores, academic achievements, non-academic achievements, and other activities that allow for the evaluation of the potential success of a candidate for admission.
