Good Evening Maritime families, As of today, April 8th, 2020, and in compliance with the current State Education directive to keep schools closed until April 29, teachers will be returning to school after April 29th and students will return May 4th. The cancellation of Regents exams does not mean school is cancelled for the year. The guidelines for obtaining a Regents diploma require a student to be enrolled in the Regents course and needs to be passing the course at the end of the 2019-2020 school year. Cadets, it is imperative that you maintain constant contact with your teachers to complete all assignments and continue to keep your grades high. We are not conducting new material for the week of what would have been our Spring Break but students are expected to check email and student portal to ensure all their assignments are complete. Teachers will be available from 9am to 2pm as they have been with the exception of Good Friday and Easter Monday. Hello Maritime Families, We hope you are all staying home and healthy during this time. We want to remind you that grades are closing and all work needs to be submitted. If your child has not contacted their teachers, they need to do this as soon as possible, class work is not optional during this time. As of now, both buildings are closed and locked. If you have a true emergency and need to enter the high school only, you will need to reach out to the Commandant via the school website and her email link. Parents and students can be using both the parent and student portals to monitor classwork assignments and grades. We also post updates on Facebook and our school website for your convenience. Please, if youare experiencing technical difficulties, you need to contact a teacher or administrator immediately to get a resolution in place. Again, submitting classwork is not optional. Western New York Maritime Charter School is committed to following the NY State Dept. of Education and Erie County health safety protocols for your child which resulted in a closing of all Erie County Schools until April 20, 2020. As a result, you are probably curious as to what our school has in place to continue educating your child and supporting them even at a “distance.” Below, you will find some Frequently Asked Questions that we can offer advice on now that we have clarity from our government officials which resulted in rigorous staff planning and work on Monday, March 16th and 17th 2020. Due to the coronavirus closures, our Registration Day for the 2020-2021 school year is cancelled. We will be contacting all applicants by phone to let you know how to proceed with enrollment. We appologize for the inconvenience. Please stay safe and healthy.
As we are sure you have heard, school is officially closed until April 20th. Students need to be checking their teachers' web pages on our website and their emails daily for their assignments. We know this is an uncertain time for all of us and our teachers are doing a wonderful job of creating content and student requirements that will be meaningful to their learning. Teachers will be available online every day from 9-11am and from 12-2pm, please check their webpages for further specifics. Our Main offices at both the middle and high schools will be staffed from 9am-2pm but please use phone calls and email as the main method of contact to keep everyone safe.
With the directive from the Erie County Executive, Mark Poloncarz, we are closing school to students on Monday, March 16 and Tuesday March 17, 2020. Faculty and staff only are to report to their school by 9am Monday, March 16th. As of this moment, we are only closed to students on Monday and Tuesday. We will continually update you with new information and timelines as they develop.

Dear Parents, While there is still no confirmed case of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Western New York, out of an abundance of caution the WNY Maritime Charter School is taking the proper precautions to help prevent the spread of the disease. First, all field trips outside of Western New York are canceled for the remainder of the school year. Second, beginning today, March 13, 2020, all school activities that feature gatherings of 500 or more people are canceled. We are currently evaluating additional dates and events on the calendar. Our primary source of communication to students and parents will be through the school website and automated calls as needed. We are proud to announce the State has granted us a 5 year Charter renewal. We are now adding and accepting applications for grades 5 and 6, that will begin in our upcoming, 2020-2021, school year. Class size is limited to 15 students per grade, and siblings to current students have priority. Applications can be obtained online, and at the Middle and High Schools. Registration day is April 1st.
